SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their third meet of the season this weekend at the Hillsdale College Invitational.

The race begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 and takes place in Hillsdale, Michigan. Lake State will go up against regional and conference competition in preparation for their biggest meet of the year, as the Lakers are set to compete on the same course at the NCAA Midwest Regionals at Hillsdale in November.

The Lakers are coming off a successful last meet, where both the men's and women's teams placed first at the Bay College Invitational in Gladstone, Michigan.

Top finishers for the women included Rebecca Lathrop, Alexis Passino and Leah Bell. On the men's side, David Mitter had the top finish time for LSSU, followed by Garrett Smith and Jack Miles.

Following this weekend, Lake State will participate in the Wayne State Invitational in Detroit on Oct. 20.
