SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's tennis team (6-4, 2-1 GLIAC) swept singles play for a 6-1 victory over the visiting Purdue Northwest Pride (11-7, 1-3 GLIAC) on Friday.

In doubles play, the pairing of Driss Sedrati (Casablanca, Morocco) and Jordi Fraile Raton (Sant Cugat, Spain) raced ahead for a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 doubles match. However, the Pride were ultimately able to steal the other two doubles matches to claim the early 1-0 advantage.

Sedrati carried his momentum over to singles play, dominating his opponent on his way to an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot. Lluc Limongi Ollers (Mallorca, Spain) put his team ahead with a strong outing of his own, closing out the top singles match by a final score of 6-4, 6-2, and Maxence Hamon (Montreal, Canada) pushed the Pride to the brink with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 spot. Stefan Andrei (Galati, Romania) would then secure the win for his team after shaking off dropping his opening set before grinding out a 7-6 second set with a tiebreaker and taking full control of the third for a final score of 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, and Fraile finished off his opponent a few minutes later by a score of 7-5, 6-3. With all eyes on the final remaining match, Raul Velasco Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) battled his way to a decisive third set. In the super-tiebreaker, Velasco got off to a rough start, trailing 1-6, but he fought all the way back, grinding his way to a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 [10-8] victory to complete the sweep of singles play.
