Osmond, Limongi, and Fraile Receive All-GLIAC Honors

MIDLAND, Mich. – Senior Aaron Osmond (Cheltenham, U.K.) has been named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team, and freshmen Lluc Limongi Ollers (Mallorca, Spain) and Jordi Fraile Raton (Sant Cugat del Valles, Spain) were selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team and Honorable Mention All-GLIAC, respectively, as announced by the conference on Friday.

Osmond, arguably the most improved player in the conference, went from playing primarily at the No. 5 spot a season ago to being exclusively at the No. 1 singles position this year. Osmond amassed a 4-2 record in GLIAC play, including a three-set victory over fellow first-teamer Unai Gonzalez of Grand Valley to clinch the 5-2 upset win for his team on Senior Day. He also started dual match play strong to open the year with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 win to take down the No. 6 ranked player in the nation in Tiffin's Ruben Fonga which resulted in him being named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week, and he would receive weekly honors again in week seven, becoming the first Lake Superior State Laker to be named Men's Tennis Player of the Week multiple times in a season.

Limongi was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team after finishing the season on a high note. After being narrowly defeated by All-GLIAC First-Teamer Daniel Grey (Wayne State), he had an impressive weekend that saw him take down GLIAC Freshman of the Year Erik Kovacs (Ferris State) and GLIAC Second-Teamer Sebastian Arce (Grand Valley) on back-to-back days.

Fraile compiled a 7-5 record in singles play, including a 3-2 mark in league play playing primarily at the No. 4 spot, and he was able to force a decisive third set in four out of his five losses. He was also able to put together a strong season in doubles play while primarily teaming up with Raul Velasco Garcia (Barcelona, Spain). He totaled a 3-3 doubles record against GLIAC foes at the No. 2 position, and he went a perfect 4-0 at No. 3 doubles before moving up in the lineup in February.
