Preview: Laker Tennis Continues Nonconference Schedule this Weekend at Findlay & Tiffin

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University Men's and Women's Tennis teams will continue the nonconference portion of their spring seasons this weekend on the road. The men's team will play Findlay University on Friday, Feb. 11 at 1:00 p.m. in Findlay, Ohio. Both the men's and women's teams will compete against Tiffin University on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10:00 a.m. in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Laker men's team is coming off a weekend split against Cornerstone University and Lawrence Tech. Lake Superior State earned a 4-3 win over Cornerstone on Friday, Feb. 4 and fell to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Saturday, Feb. 5 by a final score of 4-3. The Lakers were led by No. 1 singles player Juho Kantola, who won both of his matches, as well as both of his doubles matches on the No. 1 pairing with Harris Rehan. In addition to Kantola and Rehan, the Lakers are represented by Logan Brown, Aaron Osmond, Diego Penz, Ali Sahibzada, Krishan Taneja, Raul Velasco Garcia, and Xavier Vicent Navarro.

The Findlay Oilers are 0-1 in the spring season as the team is coming off a 7-0 loss to Grand Valley last weekend. The Tiffin Dragons are 1-1 through their first two matches of the spring, splitting a pair of matches last weekend against Northwood and Davenport. 

The Laker women's team returns to competition following a 5-0 win over Lawrence Tech last Saturday. The Lakers were led by No. 1 singles player Nadege Koua, who won her match in three sets and also won her doubles matchup with Muskaan Ranjan. LSSU also recorded singles wins from Ranjan in the No. 2 spot, Claudia Sole in the No. 3 spot and Julia Fraile Raton in the No. 5 spot. 

The Lakers will take on a Tiffin team that has split their first two matches of the spring season, and are coming off a 6-1 win against the Davenport Panthers. 

After this weekend's matches, both teams will have a few weeks off before their annual Spring Break trip. The Lakers will kick off the week-long schedule of matches at Hillsdale on Saturday, March 5 with the women playing at 9:00 a.m. and the men's competition starting at 1:00 p.m.
