SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Lake Superior State men's tennis concluded its regular season with a 7-0 setback to No. 22 Wayne State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Sunday at Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

Lake Superior State (6-7, 4-4 GLIAC) lost all three doubles matches as Wayne State (17-3, 7-0) GLIAC claimed the doubles point. The Lakers' best chance in doubles came from the No. 1 pairing of junior captain Joe Gilman and freshman Krishan Taneja, who forced a tie break. However, they were edged 7-6 (6) in the match. The No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Diego Penz and senior Luis Valderrama, and the No. 3 doubles pairing of freshmen Harris Irfan ul Haq and Ali Sahibzada were defeated 6-3 and 6-1, respectively. 

The Lakers were unable to win a singles match as they went on to drop the team match 7-0. Gilman dropped the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3, Sahibzada fell at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-0, Taneja was defeated 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, Valderrama dropped the No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-4, and Penz and Irfan ul Haq lost 6-3, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.  

Lake Superior State begins play in the 2019 GLIAC Men's Tennis Tournament on April 26 at Greater Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Michigan.
