Men's Tennis Hosts Ashland and Wayne State in Final Regular Season Matches

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Lake Superior State men's tennis will host two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents this weekend as the Lakers look to clinch a berth in the 2019 GLIAC Tournament. 

On Saturday, the Lakers (5-6, 3-3 GLIAC) face Ashland (9-10, 3-4 GLIAC) at 10 a.m EDT. The Eagles enter the weekend seventh in the GLIAC standings. On Sunday, the Lakers play No. 22 ranked Wayne State (15-3, 5-0 GLIAC) at 10 a.m EDT. Wayne State's No. 1 doubles pairing is currently ranked No. 24 in the ITA rankings. 

Junior captain Joe Gilman and company will look to pick up a pair of conference wins this weekend, as the Lakers are one win away from clinching a GLIAC Tournament spot for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Gilman is currently on a five-match singles win streak at No. 1 singles. 

Home matches are held at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center. Admission is free of charge.
