SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State men's tennis team is scheduled to play Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches at Davenport on Saturday and at Purdue Northwest on Sunday.

Lake Superior State (4-5, 2-2 GLIAC) faces Davenport (9-7, 1-2 GLIAC) at 10 a.m. EDT on Saturday at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Michigan. The Lakers then face Purdue Northwest (3-8, 0-3 GLIAC) at 11 a.m. EDT on Sunday in Park Forest, Illinois.

Last weekend, Lake Superior State swept Michigan Tech 7-0 in a GLIAC match at Arbuckle Student Activity Center on Saturday. With the victory, Lake Superior State picked up its second GLIAC win of 2019 and equaled its conference win total from all of last season. Freshman Ali Sahibzada picked up his first-ever GLIAC singles victory in the match.

For their efforts against Michigan Tech, the members of the Laker men's tennis team were named Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athletes of the Week – becoming the first team to claim the award since its inception.

Davenport enters the match with the Lakers having defeated Purdue Northwest 6-1 on Sunday for its first conference win of the season.

Purdue Northwest, which faces Michigan Tech on Saturday before facing the Lakers on Sunday, enters the week having lost a home match to Davenport 6-1 last Sunday.

The Lakers play their final two home matches of the season against Ashland and Wayne State on April 13 and April 14, respectively. All home matches begin at 10 a.m. at Arbuckle Student Activity Center. Admission is free of charge.
