Mag and Wegrzyn earn All-GLIAC recognition


BAY CITY - Lake Superior State freshman Razvan Mag was named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team, while sophomore Pawel Wegrzyn received honorable mention in men's tennis for 2008-09.

Mag, a mid-season transfer from Windsor, Ont., was 8-9 in singles for the Lakers. He was 4-9 at No. 1 singles, 3-0 at No. 2 and won his only match of the year at No. 3. He teamed with Wegrzyn in doubles to post a 9-8 mark. Mag and Wegrzyn were ranked fifth in the GLIAC at No. 1 doubles.

Wegrzyn was 8-8 overall in singles, including 2-3 at No. 1, 6-4 at No. 2 and 0-1 at No. 3. He was ranked fifth in the GLIAC at No. 2 singles in 2008-09. He has a career singles record of 16-21.

The All-GLIAC First Team included Northwood's Peter Kazianschuetz (player of the year), Frederic Schoelzel and Bertrand Vigouroux, Wayne State's Johan Maubacq and Bertrand Moulin, Findlay's Kyle Collette (freshman of the year), Grand Valley State's Tony Dang and Ferris State's Lewis DeGeneault.
