Easton Hesse Named CCHA Goaltender of the Week

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Junior Easton Hesse (Beaumont, Alta.) has been named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The junior who entered the season third on the Lakers' depth chart stepped between the pipes for his first official action of the season for a pair of pivotal games against Michigan Tech, and he would not allow this opportunity to be wasted, posting career-best performances on his way to finishing the weekend with his first career goalie win to go along with the top GAA (1.01) and save percentage (.971) marks not only in his career, but across the entire conference for the week. Hesse finished the weekend with 67 saves on 69 shots faced to hold Michigan Tech to just a single tally on each night.

On Friday, Hesse stood tall in the net, fending off three potentially momentum-shifting Michigan Tech breakaway opportunities to maintain the Lakers' one-goal advantage on his way to a career-high 34 saves on the night, and he followed up that performance by keeping the Huskies scoreless through just over 47 minutes of action for a career-high 88:48 minutes in goal without allowing a score between the two games.

Hesse and the Lakers return to action on Friday, Feb. 9 when they travel to Bowling Green with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
