SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State hockey student-athlete Collin Saccoman has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Monday, Nov. 4. 

Saccoman, a senior defenseman from Stillwater, Minn., led the Lakers with three goals and one assist this weekend in the team's sweep against Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) opponent Ferris State at home. Saccoman led the team in goals and led all WCHA players in goals this weekend. The criminal justice/homeland security major leads all NCAA defensemen in goals with six, and has recorded three consecutive multi-point games (5G, 1A). Saccoman was named WCHA Defenseman of the Week for his play against the Bulldogs. 

It is the first time that Saccoman has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week.

The Lakers will continue conference play on the road this weekend as they travel to Bemidji, Minn. to take on the Bemidji State Beavers. Friday's game is set for an 8:07 p.m. start while Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
