WCHA / AHCA

WCHA Release:

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – July 27, 2018 – A total of 108 student-athletes from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) were honored today as Krampade All American Scholars, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). All 17 WCHA programs are represented by outstanding players who attained a 3.6 grade-point average each semester and participated in 40 percent of their school's games during the 2017-18 season (a small number of waivers to the participation requirement were granted due to injury or for back-up goaltenders).

"On behalf of the entire WCHA, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to these tremendous student-athletes," said WCHA Commissioners Bill Robertson (Men's League) and Katie Million (Women's League) in a joint statement. "College athletics is about the total package – playing the sport you love, while setting the foundation for post-graduate success. We are honored that the young men and women who compete in the WCHA represent their schools and league in such remarkable fashion, both athletically and academically."

Added AHCA Executive Director Joe Bertagna: "We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom. The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."

Kyle Chatham (Sr., D, Belleville, Ill.); Nick Kossoff (Jr., G, West Des Moines, Iowa); Ryan Renz (Sr., D, Castlegar, British Columbia); Aidan Wright (Sr., D, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.)
