ANCHORAGE, Alaska. — The Lake Superior State hockey team earned its second-consecutive Western Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep Saturday night with a, 2-1, victory over Alaska Anchorage inside the Seawolves' Sullivan Arena.

With the win, LSSU moves to 10-20-4 overall on the season, 8-15-3 in league and win their fourth-straight game. UAA falls to 2-24-4, 2-19-3.

After a scoreless first stanza, the Seawolves got on the board first when Trey DeGraff scored at the 5:26 mark of the second period.

The Lakers responded in the finals seconds of the period when sophomore forward Max Humitz scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season on the power play with help from Anthony Nellis (6).

After notching the game-winner in Friday's, 3-2, overtime win, Nellis (11) added another for the weekend breaking the, 1-1, deadlock at the 6:34 mark of the third period on an assist from Chase Gamelin (3).

Freshman backstop Mareks Mitens turned another sparkling performance in the net for Lake Superior totaling 22 saves on 23 shot faced. Mitens made 10 saves in the third period to hold on to the win.

LSSU and UAA finished the game even on the shot chart with 23 respectively. Both teams were 1-of-4 on opportunities with the man advantage.

With six league points earned this weekend, the Lake State now has 27 points on the season drawing to within one of Ferris State (28) for the final spot in the WCHA tournament. The Lakers and Bulldogs will meet for a two-game set in the final weekend of the regular season (Feb.23-24).
