SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State hockey team will hit the road this weekend as it squares off with Western Collegiate Hockey Association rival Bemidji State in a two-game set at the Beavers' Sanford Center.

The Lakers enter this weekend's matchup with 6-20-4 record overall this season and a 4-15-3 mark in the conference. The Beavers are 14-8-6, 11-5-4.

Last Time Out:
LSSU was swept by No.14-ranked Bowling Green at home falling to the Falcons, 5-3, in Friday's opener and, 3-2, in Saturday's finale.

Anthony Nellis, Brayden Gelsinger and Lukas Kaelble scored for the Lakers on Friday while Hampus Erikkson and Gage Torrel found the net on Saturday.

Scouting the Beavers:
BSU enters this weekend coming off a home series split with Alabama-Huntsville last weekend. The Beavers lost, 5-1, on Friday and took the finale, 5-1, on Saturday.

Forward Kyle Bauman paces the Beavers offense and ranks No.4 in the WCHA with 27 points on the season. Jay Dickaman leads the team with 13 goals overall and ranks No.6 with 11 goals in league action.

Michael Bitzner leads the team in the net with a 14-7-6 record and a .911 save percentage. Bitzner ranks No.4 in the WCHA in goals against average this season with a 2.07 clip

Laker Leaders:
J.T. Henke, a senior, has been Lake State's offensive leader this season with a team-leading 24 points so far. Henke's 18 points in WCHA play ranks No.14 in the conference.

Sophomore forward Max Humitz has been the leading goal scorer for the Lakers so far with 11 total goals (7 in the WCHA). Anthony Nellis is second with nine while Henke and Brayden Gelsinger have each tallied eight.

Junior Nick Kossoff has been the Lakers leader in the net season owning a 5-11-2 record with 614 saves for a .906 percentage.

WCHA Standings:
Lake State will need a strong finish in the last 6 games of the regular season to secure a spot in the post season. They currently sit in 9th place in the league standings with 15 points trailing Alaska (23 points) for the final spot in the WCHA Tournament.

With 39 points in league action, Bemidji State owns the fourth place spot in the WCHA standings trailing Minnesota State-Mankato (45 points), Bowling Green (46) and Northern Michigan (49)

After this weekend's series, the Lakers will remain on the road traveling to Alaska Anchorage for a WCHA series with the Sea Wolves.
