Lakers Swept By No.8 Minnesota State-Mankato in Series Finale

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State Hockey team was swept by No.8 Minnesota State-Mankato, 7-0, Saturday night concluding another Western Collegiate Hockey Association series inside Taffy Abel Arena.

The Lakers slip to 4-11-3 overall with a 3-7-2 mark in WCHA competition. The Mavericks improve to 11-5-0, 9-3.

LSSU was outshot, 44-13, in the loss went 0-of-4 on the power play. MSU converted 4-of-6 opportunities with the man advantage.

After taking a 5-1 loss in Friday's opener, Lake Superior was outscored 12-1 in the series.

Parker Tuomie and Evan Scheid each scored a pair of goals on the night for the Mavericks. Dallas Geralds, Zeb Knutson and Brad McClure all scored.

The Lakers will search for better results next weekend as they travel to rival Michigan Tech for a two-game WCHA series Dec.15-16.

LSSU returns home to start the new year with a WCHA series with Bemidji State slated for Jan.5-6.
