Freshman (2015-16): Appeared in 38 games... Scored eight goals and 11 assists to rank third on the team in scoring... Was named the team's Most Valuable Forward... Tallied an assist in a 3-2 win at Ferris State (3/5)... Was named WCHA Rookie of the Month for February after posting four goals and three assists in eight games during the month... Registered a three-point weekend (1-2--3), including a game-winning assist (2/26), to help the Lakers secure the Cappo Cup series over Northern Michigan (2/27)...Scored a goal during a 5-2 loss at Alaska Anchorage (2/20)...Earned Rookie of the Week status following a 3-0 victory over Bemidji State (2/13), in which he scored an empty net goal and assisted on the game winner...Was named WCHA Rookie of the Month for December after posting two goals and three assists during the month... Torrel later added the assist on an empty net goal that sealed the win. Also tallied an assist in Friday’s 4-2 come-from-behind victory (12/4)... Scored a goal and was +1 in a 4-2 victory at Michigan State (12/22)... Tallied three assists, including the game winner in a 4-0 victory against Northern Michigan (11/17)... Scored his first career goal in a 4-1 loss to Michigan State at the Ice Breaker Tournament (12/10).


Prior to LSSU: Finished 12th in BCHL scoring with 26-38--64 in 54 regular season games played with the Langley Rivermen… Had 11 goals and 11 assists on the power play during the regular season…Opened the 2013-14 season with the Fargo Force of the USHL and scored a goal in eight appearances before joining the Rivermen.... Scored 10-14--24 in 28 games with Langley in 2013-14... Totaled 52-43--95 in 50 career high school games over two seasons at Monticello H.S.

 

Personal: Son of Kendel and Stephen Torrel... Father and uncle played hockey for Minnesota-Duluth... Father was drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the seventh round of the 1986 draft ... Uncle, Doug, was a fourth-round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 1987... Doug played five years of professional hockey in the AHL, WCHL and IHL and spent two seasons playing in Germany... Brother Mitch Torrel played four seasons at the Air Force Academy.
