Schofield tallies game-winner late in the third against Ohio State

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State edged Ohio State 3-2 Friday at Taffy Abel Arena in its first Central Collegiate Hockey Association game of the season.
The Lakers are now 4-1-0 overall, riding a four-game win streak, and 1-0-0 in the CCHA.
Ohio State netted the first goal of the game, but the Lakers came back to tie it, 1-1, at 8:05 of the second period. Senior forward Simon Gysbers scored a power-play goal with the assist going to junior goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson.
OSU took the lead at the end of the second period with and unassisted goal from Matt Bartkowski. LSSU tied it again, 2-2, early in the third period with senior defenseman Steven Kaunisto netting a goal. Senior forward Zac MacVoy and junior forward Chad Nehring assisted on the Kaunisto goal.
With less then two minutes left in the third period, junior forward Rick Schofield scored the game-winning goal. MacVoy and sophomore forward Fred Cassiani picked up assists.
Mahoney-Wilson saved 32 shots for the night. Ohio State goaltender Dustin Carlson made 28 saves in the game.
The Lakers were 1-for-4 on the power-play and held the Buckeyes to 0-for-3 on their power-play chances.
As part of Pink in the Rink and Parents Weekend, LSSU will introduce the parents of the Lakers at Saturday's game. The Lakers will host Ohio State tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
