Laker Golf to Compete at the SVSU Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's golf teams will begin the 2019 spring season as they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to play in the SVSU Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. 

Senior captain Gavin MacIver is looking to maintain his momentum that he had during the fall season. In the fall, he had an average score of 75 per round in six rounds played. MacIver had one top-15 finish at the Ferris State Invitational and posted a season-low round of 72 at the Findlay Invitational. 

Sophomore Nick Oosterhof averaged a score of 76.5 in eight rounds, with one top-three finish at Hawkshead Invitational with a score of 141 (71,70). Sophomore, Ryan Page averaged a score of 80.6 in eight rounds, while freshman Zander Park averaged a score of 79.4 in eight rounds. Finishing out the lineup is sophomore Isaac Lennox, who will make his first tournament appearance this season. The men will play at Cherry Blossom Golf Course. 

On the women's side, this fall the Lakers were led by sophomore Naomi Keyte with an average score of 80.6 in 10 rounds. Keyte had three top-15 finishes with a season-low round score of 76. Sophomore captain Taylor Simoneau averaged a score of 81.6 in 10 rounds while placing twice in the top-15 and one top-three finish. Senior Tatiana Hulan averaged a score of 85 in 10 rounds with a season-low round of 80. Sophomore Madison Wilkie averaged an 86 in four rounds of play. Finishing out the lineup is freshman Alyshia Suleman, who averaged a score of 88 in eight rounds. The women will play at Kearney Hills Golf Course.
