LSSU Men's & Women's Golf Open Two-day Tournaments

GAYLORD, Mich.- The Lake Superior State men's and women's golf teams began a pair of two-day tournaments on Monday.

The Lady Lakers travelled to Gaylord, Michigan to compete in the Blue Devil Classic. The men travelled to Findlay, Ohio to participate in the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational.

The women finished the first round in 5th place. Leading the Lakers was sophomore captain, Taylor Simoneau who sits in a tie for 6th with a score of 78. Naomi Keyte holds a tie for 16th with a score of 82.

Junior, Maddie Whittet, is tied for 19th with a score of 83. Senior, Tatiana Hulan and freshman, Alyshia Suleman both are tied for 21st with a score of 84.

The men played a total of 36 holes Monday in their three round tournament.

Senior captain, Gavin MacIver, shot a 152 (80-72) to tie for 48th. Freshman standout, Zander Park, shot a 155 (76-79), tying for 63rd. Nick Oosterhof carded a 156 ( 80-76) tying for 68th.

Sophomore, Ryan Page shot a 158 (77-81) tying for 74th, and finishing out the lineup was Connor Kintz shooting 160 (83-77) tying for 86th.

Both golf teams are playing their final rounds Tuesday morning looking to improve on the first day of competition.
