SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's basketball student-athlete Ke'Montrece Collins has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Collins was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Lakers to a weekend split on the road against Wayne State and Ashland. Collins averaged 17 points in the pair of games and led the Lakers in scoring in both games. Collins recorded 16 points in Thursday's 74-73 win over Wayne State while also adding a team-leading eight rebounds. The Toledo, Ohio native sunk the game winning shot with seven seconds left in the game against Wayne State to give the Lakers the one point lead to seal the win. 

The Criminal Justice major would add 18 points against Ashland on Saturday in the team's 81-66 loss. This season, Collins leads the Lakers in scoring as he averages 15.2 points per game, which ranks ninth among all GLIAC players. 

This marks the second time this year that Collins has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week.

The Lakers will be back at home this weekend to play against the Northwood University Timberwolves on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday, Feb. 8. Thursday's game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip off while Saturday's match up is set for a 3:00 p.m. start at the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
