SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's basketball student-athlete C.J. Robinson has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Monday, Jan. 13.

Robinson, a sophomore guard from Clarkston, Mich., led the Lakers in points in both of the team's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) games this week. Robinson posted 16 points on Thursday night at Saginaw Valley State which was tied for the team-lead while his 63.7 shooting percentage sets a new season-high for the sophomore. The Business Administration major followed up with a team-high 15 points against Northwood University on Saturday while also recording five rebounds in the game. Robinson has registered a double digit point total in 10 of the Lakers 16 games this season and is on a three game streak of scoring 15 or more points.

It is the first time that Robinson has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week.

The Lakers will then continue the stretch of road games next weekend as the team heads to the western Upper Peninsula to take on Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. Lake State will play the Huskies on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. followed by a game on Saturday, Jan. 18 against the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m.
