Men's Basketball Ready to Cap off Non-Conference Play with a Game Against Algoma

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.- The Lake Superior State men's basketball team will host the Algoma University Thunderbirds for a 7:00 p.m. game tomorrow Tuesday, Nov. 26 in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. Through the first five games of the season, the Lakers hold a 2-3 overall record with a win in their last game. 

Lake Superior State Lakers (2-3)

The Lakers are coming off an impressive win in their last game as they recorded a win against the undefeated Westminster College Griffins by a final score of 75-71. Through the first five games of the 2019-20 season, the Lakers are shooting 42.5% from the field this season and 30.6% from three. Lake State has averaged 31.6 rebounds per game, 11.8 assists per game, and 71.9% from the free throw line. Senior forward Ke'Montrece Collins leads the team with 13.6 points per game and a 48.1 shooting percentage this season. Sophomore C.J. Robinson ranks second on the team in points per game with 11.2. Justin Fischer has had a solid start to his sophomore season averaging 10.8 points per game which is third among the Lakers and second on the team in rebounds with 4.4 per game. Freshman Nigel Colvin is coming off a strong game for Lake State as he led the team with 19 points in the win over Westminster. 

Algoma University Thunderbirds - Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (2-7)

The Algoma University Thunderbirds have posted a 2-7 overall record through the first seven games of the season. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario based program averages 69.6 points per game, a 38.9% from the field and a 28.5% from three. The Thunderbirds are led by the duo of Nicholas Gehlen who averages 18.0 points per game on a 39.4% shooting percentage and Peter Wetuvanga who ranks second in points with 12.0 per game on a 51.8% shooting percentage.

The Lakers will have time to regroup before they open GLIAC conference play on Thursday, Dec. 5 when they host Ashland for a 7:30 p.m. game in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
