Malek Adams and Rog Stein were named to the 2019 All-GLIAC Men's Basketball Teams

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich — Malek Adams and Rog Stein have been named to the 2019 All-GLIAC Men's Basketball Teams, as announced by conference officials on Friday night.

Adams, a junior guard from Grand Ledge, Michigan who is majoring in sport and recreation management, earned All-GLIAC First Team honors for the first time in his career after averaging a team-best 16.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He also shot 49.0 percent from the field, including 40.9 percent on three-pointers, and 80.2 percent from the free throw line. Adams scored in double figures in 19 of his 25 games played on the season, including 10 games with at least 20 points. Adams scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first career double-double in a game at Ferris State on Jan. 26 in Big Rapids, Michigan. He also tallied 21 points in the Lakers' 77-66 win over then-No. 15 Ashland on Feb. 9 at Bud Cooper Gymnasium. He was named a GLIAC North Division Player of the Week once in 2018-19.

Stein, a sophomore forward from Kalamazoo, Michigan who is majoring in criminal justice, earned ALL-GLIAC Second Team honors. He was second on the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game on 48.6 percent shooting from the field. He recorded a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game, a team-leading 1.7 steals per game and 2.9 assists per game. Stein, who earned one GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honor in 2018-19, garnered five double-doubles on the season. He also scored in doubles figures 22 times in 26 games played, including a season-high 27 points against Northwood on Dec. 8.

Lake Superior State finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-12 (11-9 GLIAC) record and reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
