Marquardt Named GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week

Blake Marquardt is the GLIAC North Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Blake Marquardt has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, as announced by GLIAC officials on Monday afternoon.  

Marquardt, a senior forward from Oshkosh, Wisconsin who is majoring business administration, scored a game-high 26 points as Lake Superior State defeated Ferris State 86-66 on Thursday night at Bud Cooper Gymnasium. With the win, the Lakers earned the sixth seed in the GLIAC Tournament. Marquardt shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the field and was 6-of-9 on three-point shots. He also went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Marquardt tallied three rebounds and one steal. With his six made three-pointers, Marquardt moved into a tie for eighth with Jordan Dasuqi (2013-17) on LSSU's career three-pointer list (205). 

This is the first GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honor for Marquardt this season. He is the third Laker to earn the award this season. Sophomore forward Rog Stein and junior guard Malek Adams were the previous honorees. 

Sixth-seeded Lake Superior State faces third-seeded Parkside in the quarterfinals of the 2019 GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament at 8:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
