BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Malek Adams scored a career-high 30 points, but Lake Superior State men's basketball suffered a 97-76 setback at Ferris State on Saturday afternoon inside Jim Wink Arena.

Adams, a junior guard, led Lake Superior State (10-7, 6-5 GLIAC) in scoring with a career-best 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Adams was also 6-of-7 from the free throw line. In addition, he grabbed 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double. 

However, Adams' performance was not enough as Lake Superior State was outscored by Ferris State (15-7, 7-4 GLIAC) 47-32 in the first half and 50-44 in the second half to make the final score 97-76 in favor of Ferris State.

Senior guard Carson Manger, who tallied 11 points, was the only other Laker to score in double figures.

Ferris State's DeShaun Thrower led all scorers with 22 points on the afternoon.

Lake Superior State shot 41.5 percent from the field, while Ferris State hit 47.1 percent of its shots. The Lakers shot 6-of-14 on three-pointers and the Bulldogs were 10-of-26 from behind the three-point line.

Lake Superior State converted 16-of-25 free throw attempts and Ferris State made 21-of-30.

The Lakers had 18 assists compared to 27 by the Bulldogs.

The Lakers return to action with a GLIAC game at Northwood University on Thursday at 8 p.m. 

Lake Superior State's next home game is on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. when the Lakers host Wayne State in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
