Men's Basketball Tops Michigan Tech 75-67 for Third Consecutive Win

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Malek Adams scored a game-high 25 points to propel Lake Superior State men's basketball to a 75-67 road win over Michigan Tech in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at SDC Gym.

With the win over Michigan Tech (8-7, 3-5 GLIAC), Lake Superior State (9-5, 5-3 GLIAC) is now on a three-game winning streak.

Sophomore forward Rog Stein and senior forward Blake Marquardt each scored 11 points in the first half to help lead Lake Superior State to a 38-21 lead over Michigan Tech at halftime. In the second half, the Lakers were outscored 46-37, but Adams scored 18 of his game-high 25 points as the Lakers held off the Huskies and prevailed 75-67.

Adams, a junior guard, ecliped the 20-point plateau for the sixth time this season and for the second consecutive game. He also scored 26 points in the Lakers' 86-66 at win at Northern Michigan on Thursday to give him a 25.5 points per game average on the week.

Stein was the Lakers' second leading scorer with 13 points followed by Marquardt (11). 

Stein grabbed a team-high five rebounds in the game.

The Lakers shot 50.0 percent from the field, while the Huskies shot 47.2 percent. The Lakers made eight three-pointers on 38.1 percent shooting, while limiting the Huskies to four made three-pointers (19.0 percent). 

The Lakers were outrebounded 38-25, but they held an 11-2 edge in steals.

The Lakers' next home action is on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. when they host Wisconsin-Parkside in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
