SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's basketball continues home play this week with a nonconference game against Algoma University.
The Lakers (4-4) face the Thunderbirds (2-8) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday inside Bud Cooper Gym.
Last Time on the Court
The Lakers went 1-1 in their most recent games, splitting a pair against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents. They beat Saginaw Valley State 70-62 on Dec. 6 and were downed by Northwood 91-83 on Dec. 8.
Team Leaders
Junior guard Malek Adams is leading the Lakers in scoring average with 17.8 points per game. Adams has eclipsed the 20-point plateau in the Lakers' last three games – scoring 24 points at Wayne State on Dec. 1, 23 points against Saginaw Valley State at home on Dec. 6, and 20 points in a home game with Northwood on Dec. 8.
Sophomore forward Rog Stein leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds per game, while ranking second in scoring with 15.5 points per game.

LSSU is shooting 50.2 percent from the field, including 39.3 percent from three-point range, while limiting opponents to 45.7 percent shooting and 36.9 percent from behind the three-point arc. Scouting Algoma
Located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Algoma (2-8) is a member of the Ontario University Athletic Conference. The Thunderbirds are on a two-game losing streak, most recently falling 87-81 earlier this month (Dec. 2) against the University of Ottawa as well as a 77-60 loss against Carleton University on Nov. 30.
The Thunderbirds are averaging 71.5 points per game on 35.5 percent shooting, while allowing 83.3 points per game on 46.4 percent shooting.
