Stein Named GLIAC Men’s Basketball North Division Player of the Week

Rog Stein earned his first GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week Honor

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Rog Stein has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, as announced by conference officials Monday.

Stein, a sophomore forward from Kalamazoo, Michigan, averaged 14.5 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting, while dishing out 3.0 assists per game, grabbing 10.0 rebounds per game and recording one double-double as the Lakers went 2-0 on the week. 

Stein scored a team-leading 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in the Lakers' season-opening 85-63 win over the Alaska Nanooks in a neutral-site game on Friday in Anchorage, Alaska. On Saturday, Stein garnered a double-double in the Lakers' 67-58 win at Alaska Anchorage. He scored a team-best 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting and 2-of-2 shooting from the free throw line, while securing 13 rebounds (5 offensive), three assists and three steals in 33 minutes.

It is the first GLIAC weekly honor of Stein's collegiate career.

The Lakers return to the court for a nonconference game at the University of Indianapolis on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. 

The Lakers will play their first regular-season home game against Saginaw Valley State University on Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
