LSSU Men Fall to Ferris State in GLIAC Championship

Lakers fall in GLIAC Championship

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Lake Superior State men's basketball team came up short against Ferris State Sunday afternoon falling 69-61 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship game inside the Bulldogs' Wink Arena.

The Lakers traded blows with the Bulldogs though the first 10 minutes of regulation before a late run gave FSU a 38-27 lead heading into the locker room. LSSU outscored FSU, 34-31, in the second half but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.

By The Numbers:
Lake State finished the game shooting 39.1 (25-of-64) from the field and 29.4 percent from three-point range. Ferris shot 48.1 and 38.9 percent.

LSSU was outrebounded, 42-34, in the loss and forced 18 turnovers while committing 12.

Leaders:
Freshman forward Ke'Montrece Collins led the LSSU offense with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting of the bench. Carson Manger finished with nine points.

Zach Hankins led way for FSU posting a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Noah King finished with 12.

All-Tournament Team:
Collins and senior guard Akaemji Williams were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament team.

What's Next:
Finishing as the No.4 seed in the region, the Lakers will await their NCAA Tournament placement which takes place at 10:30 p.m. EST.
