HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Lake Superior State men's basketball team capped off its U.P. road trip with an, 80-76, overtime win at Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt.
With the win, the LSSU improves to 20-6 overall on the year with a 13-4 clip in league competition. MTU slips to 13-12, 10-8.
The Lakers finished the game shooting 41.2 (28-of-68) percent from the field and 42.3 (11-of-26) percent from behind the arc. The Huskies shot 43.9 percent and 39.1 percent.
Tech held the advantage in the rebounding column, 43-38. Forced turnovers were in favor of Lake State, 13-8.
Senior guard Akaemji Williams paced Lake State offensively with 17 points on 6-of-19 shooting while posting his sixth double-double of the season with 10 assists.
Tim Cairnduff, Josh Goldschmidt and Ke'Montrece Collins each tallied 14 points in the win. Senior forward Michael Nicholson led the Lakers down low with a team-high 12 rebounds.
Kyle Monroe led the way for the Huskies on offense with 34 points. A.J. Grazulis finished with 13.
