Adams Career Day Powers Laker Men to GLIAC Win Over Tiffin

Lakers edges Tiffin on Road

TIFFIN, Ohio. — The Lake Superior State men's basketball team collected an important road win Saturday afternoon as it moved past Tiffin, 80-76, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

With the win, the Lakers improve to 18-6 overall on the year with a 12-4 clip in league competition. The Dragons fall to 7-17, 3-13.

LSSU finished the game shooting 49.1 (26-of-53) percent from the field and 44.8 (13-of-29) percent from behind the arc. TU shot 53.7 percent and 25 percent.

Lake Superior was outrebounded, 35-26, in the contest while forcing 16 turnovers and committing just nine.

Sophomore guard Malek Adams led the Laker offense with a career-high 28 points in the win. Adams finished 11-of-15 from the field, 3-of-4 from long distance led the team with six rebounds.

Josh Goldschmidt and Blake Marquardt were the other Lakers to finish in double-digits posting 12 points respectively. Marquardt was 4-of-8 on triple attempts and Goldschmidt was 2-of-6.

Terrell Mabins led TU offensively with 19 points in the losing effort. Alex Brown tallied 18.

Lake Superior will remain on the road next week as they take on U.P. rivals Northern Michigan next Thursday (Feb.15) and Michigan Tech on Saturday (Feb.17) in conference action.
