GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— The Lake Superior State men's basketball team suffered its second-consecutive road loss Thursday evening as it was upset by Grand Valley, 66-62, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt inside the Delta Plex Arena.

With the loss, the Lakers slip to 14-4 overall on the season and 8-2 in the GLIAC. GVSU moves to 10-8, 5-5.

LSSU struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the loss shooting a season-low 34.3 (24-of-70) percent from the field and converted on just 28.6 (8-of-28) of their three-point attempts. Grand Valley shot 49.1 and 44.4 percent.

The Lakers were outworked in the post surrendering a, 42-33, rebounding advantage. Lake State won the turnover battle, 18-8.

Senior guard Akaemji Williams led Lake Superior offensively with 16 points but finished with just a 25 (6-of-24) percent mark from the field. Blake Marquardt finished with 12 points and was 4-of-8 from three-point distance.

After getting into early foul trouble, senior forward Michael Nicholson finished with eight points in the second half and led the team with seven rebounds.

Jake Van Tubbergen and Hunter Hale led the scoring attack for GVSU finishing with 13 points respectively. Ben Lubitz finished with 12.

Lake State is back in action on Saturday as they head to Purdue Northwest to take on the Pride at 3 p.m.
