SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The No.24-ranked Lake Superior State men's basketball team posted a, 87-66, victory over Davenport Thursday evening in a Great Lakers Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match up inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

With the win, the Lakers move to 12-2 overall on the season and 6-0 in GLIAC play. The Panthers slip to 9-5, 3-3.

LSSU shot 61.4 percent from the field in the win with a 57.9 percent mark from three-point range. DU finished shooting at 42.1 and 29.4 percent.

Lake State outrebounded Davenport, 34-21, in the win and held a, 12-11, edge in the turnover battle.

Senior guard Akaemji Williams took his place in the LSSU records books in the win becoming the programs all-time assist leader passing the 590 assist mark set by Don Carlson in 1996. Williams finish with his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 assists.

Senior Forward posted his second double-double of the year with a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Malek Adams finished 13 points of the bench and Blake Marquardt finished with 12 points on a 4-of-5 shooting performance from behind the arc.

Delano Smith led the Panthers offense with 15 points on the night. Nick Malonga posted 11.

Lake State returns to action on Saturday (3 p.m.) as they head to Detroit to take on Wayne State in league action. The Lakers are back home Jan.11 hosting Northern Michigan at 7:30 p.m.
