No.15 Lakers Fall to Southern Indiana on the Road

EVANSVILLE, In.— The No.15-ranked Lake Superior State men's basketball team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end Saturday falling to non-conference Southern Indiana, 94-77, in in the Bill Joergens Memorial Classic.

With the loss, the Lakers slip to 11-2 overall. The Screaming Eagles improve to 10-4 on the season.

LSSU shot below the 50 percent mark for just the fourth time all season finishing with a 44.8 percent clip from the field and shot a season-low 17.4 percent from behind the arc. USI shot 46.8 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from long range.

Lake Superior was outworked on the glass in the loss surrendering a, 43-27, rebounding advantage to Southern Indiana.

Akaemji Williams paced the Lake State offense with his second double-double of the season posting a team-high 26 points and 11 assists.

Michael Nicholson finished with 15 points and was 7-of-8 from the field. Blake Marquardt led the team with six rebounds.

Alex Stein put up 31 points to lead the Screaming Eagles offense. Emmanuel Little added 15 points.

The Lakers will return home for the new year as they welcome Davenport (Jan.4) to Bud Cooper in a Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tilt at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Norris Center Ticket Office or online at lssulakers.com/tickets.
