Morse sets school record and earns player of the week honors

BAY CITY - Earning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week honors capped what turned out to be a memorable game for Lake Superior State senior guard Mark Morse.
Prior to Saturday's game against Saginaw Valley State, Morse was one of three Laker players recognized for reaching the 1,000-point career scoring milestone. He went on to make a school-record nine three-pointers in a 102-74 victory over SVSU and tied his career high in points with 29.
Morse was 6-of-8 from behind the arc in the first half and 3-for-3 in the second half. He attempted his final three-pointer with 12:14 remaining in the game and the Lakers leading by 32 points.
The 6-2, 175-pound guard from Harbor Springs, Mich., currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC in three-point field goals made, averaging 2.9 per game, and three-point field-goal percentage (.485, 32-of-66). Morse is currently fifth on LSSU's career three-point field goal list with 208 and first in career free-throw percentage at .842. He is the Lakers' No. 3 scorer, averaging 11.7 points per game.
LSSU plays host to Ferris State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
