Laker men finish 11th, women 12th at GLIAC Championships

BIG RAPIDS – The Lake Superior State men's cross country team, led by Ryan Rogers and Thomas VanSlembrouck, placed 11th among 14 teams at Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Ferris State's Katke Golf Course.

Rogers had an adjusted finish of 52nd in a field of 117 runners in the men's 8K race. He posted a time of 27:14 and finished 60 overall (unadjusted). VanSlembrouck was 62nd (adjusted) in 27:35.6.

Lydia Heimonen placed 35th (adjusted) and 38th overall (unadjusted) among 123 runners to lead the LSSU women, who finished 12th among 15 teams. Heimonen had a time of 23:41.8 in the women's 6K race.

Also scoring for the LSSU men were Jacob Baker, who was 70th (27:53.7), Jack Miles 72nd in 28:01, Edward Carlson 77th in 28:38.8, Parker Wyngaard 80th in 28:59.6, and Zach Workman 83rd in 29:07.7.

The top seven finishers for the LSSU women were: 72. MacKenzie Kelley, 25:40.1, 75. Trudie Mulville, 25:51.5; 78. Kaitlyn Cavallo, 26:11.5; 80. Hannah Passino, 26:22.6; 86. Rebecca Lathrop, 26:58.7; 95. McKenzie Richardson, 28:38.8.

Tiffin's James Ngandu won the men's race in 24:14.5. Grand Valley State landed seven runners in the top 11 and won the men's meet with 28 points.

GVSU's Kendra Foley won the women's race in 21:08.9. The GVSU Lakers also took the women's team title with 35 points.
