Mitter and Setsuda Named Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athletes of the Week

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's track & field student-athlete David Mitter and women's track & field student-athlete Elizabeth Setsusa have been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Monday, March 2. 

Mitter and Setsuda each represented the Lakers in the 2020 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships. 

Mitter, a junior distance runner from Howell, Mich., finished fifth overall in the men's 3000 meter distance run with a time of 8:22.78, which sets a new personal record as well as a new school record in the event. With the fifth place finish, the mechanical engineering major registered four points for the men's team in the meet. 

Setsuda, a sophomore from South Lyon, Mich.,  finished in seventh place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.91 to earn the Lakers two points while adding another pair of points for the Lakers with a seventh place finish in the 200 meter distance. The biology major finished with a time of 25.82. Setsuda would complete her solid meet with another three points for the Lakers as she finished sixth in the women's long jump. 

Setsuda also ran on the women's 1600 meter relay team which placed seventh for another pair of points. Setsuda had a hand in eight of the 11 points that the women's team earned, which was the highest total for the program since the 2013 season.

Mitter, Setsuda, and the rest of the Laker track & field athletes look ahead to the outdoor season which is set to begin on Friday, March 20 at the Blizzard Buster hosted by Miami (Ohio) University in Oxford, Ohio.
