Track and Field Competes at 53rd Hillsdale College Gina Relays

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 53rd Hillsdale College Gina Relays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

On the women's side of the meet, sophomore Ashley Mullings jumped 5.18 meters to finish ninth out of 35 competitors, who had a recorded distance, in the open long jump. The jump is the longest of Mullings' 2019 outdoor season.

In the open 400-meter dash, junior Elizabeth Setsuda sprinted to a personal-best time of 59.77 seconds, which was good for a 13th-place finish out of 35 competitors.

Sophomore Moriah Reed improved upon her personal best in the hammer throw for the second consecutive meet — garnering a distance of 39.95 meters, which is the longest by a Laker this season.

On the men's side of competition, freshman Dwayne Thompson finished 22nd out of 56 in the open 100-meter dash with a time of 11.11 seconds.

Freshman Andrew Giddens garnered a personal-best time of 57.69 seconds to finish 17th out of 42 in the open 400-meter hurdles.

In the open 800-meter run, sophomore Luke Passino recorded a time of 1:59.69 to finish 20th out of 91 competitors. 

The Lakers are back in action at the 2019 GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
