LSSU Track and Field Set to Compete at 53rd Hillsdale College Gina Relays

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams are competing in the 53rd Hillsdale College Gina Relays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Hillsdale, Michigan.

The running events get underway on Thursday evening with the women's 5,000-meter run at 7 p.m. and the men's 5,000-meter run at 8:05 p.m. On Friday, the field events get underway with the men's hammer throw at noon. The running events resume on Saturday with the women's 1,500-meter run at 12:30 p.m.  On Saturday, the field events start back up with the women's pole vault, men's triple jump, women's discus throw and men's javelin throw commencing at 10 a.m. Saturday's running events are composed of relays, beginning with the 4x100-meter relays at 2 p.m. The final scheduled events of the meet are the women's and men's 4x400-meter relays at 3:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m., respectively.

The Lakers last competed at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State, on Friday and Saturday in Allendale, Michigan. On the women's side of the meet, senior Kelsey Mader finished sixth out of 30 competitors in the javelin throw with a personal best of 31.79 meters. On the men's side, sophomore David Mitter continued his strong season — finishing fourth overall out of 50 competitors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:05.64.
