Laker Track and Field Set to Compete in Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams are scheduled to compete at the Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Ralph Young Field in East Lansing, Michigan.

The field events at the meet, hosted by Michigan State, commence with the women's pole vault at 11 a.m. on Friday, followed by the men's pole vault. The hammer throw (women followed by men) and the triple jump (women followed by men) are slated to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, the track events begin with the women's 1,500-meter run at 9:40 a.m. and the men's 1,500-meter run at 9:50 a.m. The track events conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 4:40 p.m. 

The field events on Saturday begin with the discus (women followed by men) at 10 a.m. and conclude with the long jump (women followed by men), beginning at 11 a.m.

The Lakers last competed at the Miami Blizzard Buster at George L. Rider Track in Oxford, Ohio on March 23. Sophomore David Mitter finished second out of 22 student-athletes in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 14:56.79. Sophomore Riley Collins finished tied for fourth in the women's high jump with a personal-best height of 1.65 meters.
