Lakers Set for SVSU Tune-Up

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams continue their indoor seasons at the SVSU Tune-Up, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, at the SVSU Fieldhouse in University Center, Michigan on Friday.

The field events are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EST, starting with the high jump. The track events are slated to begin at 4 p.m., beginning with the 60-meter hurdles. 

The Lakers last competed at the GVSU Open (at Grand Valley State) and the Jet's Pizza Invitational (at Saginaw Valley State) on Jan. 25 and Jan. 25-26, respectively. 

At the GVSU Open in Allendale, Michigan, sophomore Ashley Mullings finished third out of 25 competitors (who completed a jump) in the long jump with a season-best distance of 5.43 meters. At the Jet's Pizza Invitational, freshman Luke Passino garnered a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.29 — the fastest time of his collegiate career.

The Lakers will next be in action at the 2019 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Saginaw Valley State, at the SVSU Fieldhouse in University Center, Michigan on Feb. 23-24.
