Lakers win four events at Northern Challenge
MARQUETTE - The Lake Superior State track and field team won four events at the Northern Challenge hosted by Northern Michigan University on Saturday.
Laura Lindsey was LSSU's lone winner in the women's events. She placed first the shot put with a school-record throw of 12.34 meters.
"Laura Lindsey broke the women's indoor shot put record with
three
different throws on Saturday at the meet," LSSU track and field
coach Steve Eles said. "Laura broke current throws coach Megan
Cowan's record. We were really excited to see Laura perform the way
she did. She is on track to do very well by the end of the season
the way she has been improving over the last couple of weeks."
Ben Tarbutton won the men's 3,000-meter run in 8:55.01. Dana Skytta cleared 1.95 meters to win the high jump, and Patrick Wright placed first in the men's triple jump with a leap of 13.64 meters.
