Laker men and women finish second in quad meet at Northwood

MIDLAND - The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams placed second at a quad meet held Thursday at Northwood.
Northwood won the men's team title with 266 points, followed by LSSU with 109, Saginaw Valley State with 69 and Ferris State with five. SVSU took the women's title with 78 points, followed by LSSU with 74, FSU with 73 and NU with 68. Results did not include the hammer throw and discus throw.
LSSU's first-place finishers were Katie Winiarski in the women's long jump (4.09m), John Preczewski in the men's 400-meter hurdles (:58.54), Zach Lynch in the men's 800-meter run (1:59.17), Meghan Thomas in the women's 1,500-meter run (5:17.31), and Ben Tarbutton in the men's 1,500-meter run (4:11.46).
The Lakers compete April 29-30 and May 1 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Hillsdale.
