Lakers complete the first of two days of competition at GVSU

ALLENDALE - Junior Katie Scott improved upon her 1-mile run school record by clocking a 5:12.11 at the GVSU Open held Friday at Grand Valley State's Laker Turf Building.

Friday was the first of two days of competition in Allendale. The Lakers are also competing in the DII Challenge at GVSU today.

Scott, who improved her time by more than a half second and placed seventh in the event, was one of eight Lakers to post a top-10 finish in the meet. Sophomore Taylor Patton was fourth in the women's triple jump (33-8) and fifth in the high jump (5-1 ¾). Stacey Leyder placed fourth in the women's 5,000-meter run (19:47.71).

Sophomore Patrick Wright placed third in the men's triple jump (42-9). Sophomore John Preczewski placed eighth in the men's high jump behind teammate Dana Skytta and was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (:09.01).
