LSSU teams are ranked nationally on all-academic list

NEW ORLEANS - The Lake Superior State men's track and field team is ranked 19th and the women's team 31st on the 2009 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national all-academic team list in Division II.
The Laker women turned in a composite grade point average of 3.270, while the Laker men had a team GPA of 3.050. The women were ranked fifth among Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, while the men were fourth.
"I am very pleased that our men's and women's track and field
teams were honored as academic all-America teams for the third
consecutive year," LSSU coach Steve Eles said. "I am also very
pleased to have three academic all-America individuals. Katie Scott
in both cross country and track and field, and Ben Charbonneau in
track and field. These
awards are a testament to the hard work these young men and women
put forth athletically and academically."
The top teams nationally are the Northern Kentucky women (3.678) and the Tampa men (3.390).
