Arbuckle Student Activity Center

The Arbuckle Student Activity Center was built in 2000 and features a six lane 200- meter track, four basketball courts, rock climbing and fitness center. This is the training center for the track and field, cross country, and tennis teams.

Students and community members are welcomed to enjoy what this facility has to offer. Many student intramural sports are also housed here. Beyond student and student athlete use, exercise science students are helping community members through fitness programs that they are designing. There are many groups that sign up for use of the center as well: local law enforcement, Special Olympics, church groups, schools, local fundraisers, local government agencies, local businesses, local care facilities, local teams all have an agreement and use the facility.

The center was named after former LSSU President Dr. Robert Arbuckle. Arbuckle was the universities fourth president and was known as the “Students President”. During his time, the University saw great expansion of the Kenneth J. Shouldice Library, Crawford Hall of Science, Student Activity Center, and the Taffy Abel Arena
