SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The 35th Annual Lake State Classic Golf Tournament and auction, in support of Lake Superior State University and Laker Athletics, will be held Friday, August 2nd at Wild Bluff Golf Course in Brimley, Michigan.

“The Lake State Classic is for everyone, regardless of golf skills,” commented Andrew Rubinstein, LSSU Annual Fund and Athletic Development Director. “We are excited for another fun day out on the beautiful course at Wild Bluff, and to be able to support our students and student-athletes.”

The event will begin at 8am with breakfast provided for each golfer, and the four-person scramble will tee off with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. There will be multiple special events and lunch will be available for all golfers.

The Classic online auction opens for bidding on July 22nd and will close the evening of August 2nd . Auction items will include autographed Red Wings jerseys, an autographed Laker jersey from Laker Hall of Famer Mark Vermette, as well as other various items and experiences.

“Last year, for the first time since 2008, the Lake State Classic featured a sold out field of 144 golfers, and the event raised over $35,000 in support of LSSU,” said Scott Smith, LSSU VP of Advancement, Legislation and Alumni Relations.

We are pleased to announce that the price of golf will remain the same this year.
