Hunter Perry Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director Marketing/Senior Woman Administrator

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State University Athletic Director Dr. David Paitson has announced that Hunter Perry has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing/Senior Woman Administrator. 

Perry has served as the department's Marketing and Ticketing Coordinator since October 2017, while also taking on the role of Senior Woman Administrator in August 2018. Her job duties as Assistant Athletic Director will include all of her previous responsibilities as well as a more expanded role in community outreach and student-athlete well-being. 

"Hunter is extremely deserving of this promotion," says Dr. Paitson. "She has been a dedicated member of this department for the past three years and her hard work has led to a substantial growth in numerous areas of our department. She is a leader on our campus as well as in the community and I look forward to the impact that she will continue to make on Laker athletics and our student-athletes."

Perry serves as the Co-Advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), along with tennis Head Coach Luke Ogren. SAAC is a NCAA initiative that brings together student-athletes to provide insight on the student-athlete experience as well as promote a positive student-athlete image around campus.

I am excited to see our department's trend of recent success continue and believe that the future is bright for Laker athletics."

In her current role, Perry oversees all departmental ticket operations, sponsorship fulfillment, game presentation and marketing functions. Perry's job duties also include contributing to social media and website management.

Perry serves as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) as she is the highest-ranking female in the Lake Superior State athletic department. Her responsibilities include promoting meaningful representation of women in leadership and management of college sports. This includes an the planning and execution of several key projects including the Lake Superior State University Annual Women's Walk and "Stand Up Campaign" while also coordinating community partnerships events with the Diane Peppler Resource Center and the United Way of the EUP. 

"One of the roles I am most looking forward to is getting to connect our student-athletes to organizations in our community including the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula and the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce," said Perry. "In addition to community outreach, student-athlete well-being and their on-campus experience is something that I will look to build on. I want our student-athletes to know that resources like SAAC are in place to make their time at Lake State the best it can be." 

In her tenure at Lake Superior State, Perry has been integral in the athletic department's increased sponsorship and attendance campaign. Since she joined the department, there has been growth in the number of partners, sponsorships and ticket sales.

As a departmental leader, Perry has represented Lake Superior State Athletics at a number of national conferences including the NCAA Inclusion Conference and the Women Leaders in College Sports Conference. She is also a member of Sault Ste. Marie's Chamber of Commerce Chamber Leadership Program and the Division II Men's Tennis Regional Advisory Committee. As a senior member of the Laker athletics staff, Perry has served on numerous hiring committees for job openings in the department.

A native of Rudyard, Mich., Perry is a graduate of Northwood University in Midland, Mich. where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2016 while majoring in sport management with minors in marketing and advertising. In May 2017, Perry completed her Master of Business Administration from Northwood.
